While there is a small beach across from the capital building of Old San Juan, this town is not exactly considered a popular beach destination. This should by no means be considered a negative for those preparing a getaway here -- the surrounding area of San Juan, Isle Verde, and Condado is filled with great beaches that are within easy reach.
There are an abundance of beaches to enjoy, though all of them are found just outside of Old San Juan. You can click on specific names for more detail concerning that particular beach.
Parque Beach: Parque Beach is located at the end og Avenida de Diego, just after the road crosses Avenida Ashford.
Another alternative worth considering is Ocean Park. Ocean Park can be found along Calle Park Boulevard, where a number of asphalt parking lots are available.
Isla Verde Beach: Isle Verde Beach is a succession of beaches stretching for miles in front of San Juan's luxury beachfront communities and resort areas. Although there is some variation, the sands of these beaches are filled with tan colored sand and calm, aquamarine waters.
