The Cathedral is one of the oldest in the Americas, with construction started in 1521, less than thirty years after Christopher Columbus' first voyage. Since its final completion in 1529, mass has been held here and continues to be today. Even if you are not a Catholic, the cathedral is open to visitors to witness the grand construction and hear of the history of the building and San Juan.
