The first woman to be elected mayor of San Juan was Dona Felisa Rincon. She served between the years of 1946 and 1968, and not only blazed trails for women to follow, but is an important icon to all Puerto Ricans. Today, her home is a museum that gives visitors a glimpse into what life was like for her during her time serving office.
Felisa Rincón de Gautier Museum is filled with the original furnishings of the property's former resident, as well as a wealth of memorabilia. This includes photographs with important figures, 212 plaques, 11 honorary doctorates, 113 symbolic keys to cities around the United States, and more.
