Paseo De Morro

Located at the San Juan National Historic Site, Paseo de Morro is a trail that surrounds the city of Old San Juan, a path that directly corresponds with the masonry walls. Guests are welcome to walk the trail to learn more about the history of Old San Juan.


Paseo del Morro is located along the masonry walls and at once time served as the maintenance road for the west section of the city wall. Today, it is a National Recreational Trail and runs from the San Juan Gate to Castillo San Felipe del Morro. Those that walk the trail will be treated to a view of the Atlantic Ocean.

Outdoor amusements like playing a few holes of golf and taking to the water are also widely available in the area. Historic site guests looking to follow-up with a few holes of golf should consider going to the closest course, Fort Buchanan Golf Club. If golf doesn't tickle your fancy, consider spending some time at Escambrion Beach, the most convenient beach to visit. But, an additional selection of beach and golf attractions are available in the surrounding area. You will find a variety of other local attractions in the vicinity. You'll find a couple of attractions -Plaza De La Rogativa and San Juan Gate- both of which are found within just a few miles of the historic site.


Operating Hours

San Juan National Historic Site, which encompasses the trail, is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.


While there is no official cost to walk the trail, the cost to visit the surrounding forts is $3(USD) per fort, or $5(USD) for both. This price is for adults 16 and up, those aged 15 and under are free. It is also important to be aware that parking is free for one hour, but will cost $2(USD) per each additional hour.
