Flying to Orange Walk

After flying to Belize City, you'll have to drive for at least another hour before arriving in Orange Walk

Flying into Orange Walk is no easy task, but that doesn't discourage many tourists from planning a getaway in this town known for it's old-time Spanish feel. A flight into Belize is just the first stop on your journey.

A straight flight with no stops is available to Belize City, home of the country's single international airport with American Airlines, United Airlines, and US Airways from Raleigh, Miami, New Orleans, and Houston. If you're traveling from elsewhere in the United States, Canada, and Europe, you'll have to make a connection in one of these cities or in the Central American countries of Guatemala or El Salvador.

As previously mentioned, the Philip S.W. Goldson International Airport (BZE) is the only international airport in Belize. It is also the largest and busiest. Located about 30 minutes outside the center of Belize City in Ladyville, the airport is filled with restaurants and shops alongside your typical airport finds like baggage claim, a tourism center, and a collection of rental car agencies across the main parking lot.

With that said, there is an airfield in Orange Walk that tourist can use, albeit without direct flights.

There is only one small airfield in Orange Walk, aptly named Orange Walk Airport. However, it does not receive flights from Belize City, instead it serves to connect Orange Walk with San Pedro. If you happen to be exploring Belize and want to see some of the cays, (or take a connecting flight once in San Pedro) then this airport is an option. However, the average international flyer is unlikely to see much use out of it.

You will be able to fly from Belize City Municipal Airport to San Pedro Airport though; allowing you to then connect over to Orange Walk Airport. While not direct, the option is there. Check out our San Pedro Air Travel Guide to learn more about your options.

Check the following table for airline service from airports in the region. If you can't take a flight directly from an airport near you, connecting through another airport in the Caribbean could be a fine option.
