The most direct access to a vacation in Oranjestad is to fly. Reina Beatrix International Airport is located in town, which means travel time to your accommodation from the airport is mere minutes. This airport has seen a lot of work in recent years, making it a pleasurable airport to travel to, and the number of flights landing here continues to increase annually, making it easy to visit.

Beatrix International

Aruba's airport, the Reina Beatrix International Airport is located two miles southeast of the center of the capital city. After several million dollars worth of renovations in the last few years, the airport is one of the most modern in the region, and welcomes over 100 non-stop flights from the United States and Canada each week. Direct flights are also available from Europe and Latin America, and with the addition of the hundreds of connecting flights that also make the journey, this airport is always busy. The chart below lists all of the airlines that fly direct to Aruba, which will allow you to determine if a quick flight without a layover is a possibility for you or if you'll have to connect with a large airport before making your final flight to the island.

The airport houses one runway which is able to operate in two directions for landing and take-off, and is made of asphalt. A parallel taxiway connects the airplanes to the building, where it can pull into one of eight parking positions with boarding bridges, and there are also eight remote parking positions where passengers can deboard and then be bused to the building.

Once inside the airport, travelers will be greeted with a wealth of modern amenities, including an advanced flight and baggage information system, a meditation room, a medical center, two banks, escalators, and spacious elevators. The airport also houses a shopping mall of duty-free stores, a food court near the U.S. Terminal, and high-speed wireless Internet, which is available for a fee.

When it comes time for you to return home, make sure to arrive three hours prior to your flight's departure with all of your travel documents readily available. Also be prepared to pay $36.75(USD) per person for the departure tax. Some airlines will absorb the price into the cost of the ticket, however, it is best to arrive prepared in case your airline does not. Children under the age of two do not have to pay the tax.

The following table tells you which airlines offer scheduled service directly from the U.S. as well as the airports they fly from. Online services don't necessarily identify the least costly options so it's useful to see a summary of which airlines actually offer direct service to this location.
