This long, thin strip of 40 acres off Aruba's eastern shore is a private island accessible to those staying at the Renaissance Resort & Casino. $75 will also get you access, and the price includes lunch and use of a beach mat. A wide array of water sports are also available, organized by Red Sail Sports.

Located toward the center of the island of Aruba, Renaissance Island is on the West coast of the island, You might want whether or not you're staying particularly close by. Seclusion and privacy are the features which most exemplify Aruba's beaches, but Renaissance Island offers those same relaxation qualities without having to be too far removed from the city's activity.

How to Access The Beach

If you're not staying at the Renaissance Resort, you can still come to the island for $75. Either way, taking a boat is necessary.

Amenities and Ambiance

The beaches at this tropical retreat are blindingly white, but shade can be found under the many palm trees. Beach volleyball and tennis courts are available on land, while snorkeling, wave-running, kayaking, paddle-boating and more are available off shore. There is also a separate adult beach where toplessness is more than acceptable. Facilities here are top class.

You could always try the restaurant right on the water, if it suits your taste. Each destination around the Caribbean has its own unique cuisine, and Aruba is no different. One of the most enjoyable places to try local specialties is right next to the coast. Did you know that many hotels are able to pack picnic lunches for their guests? Otherwise, there are plenty of walk-up vendors that offer hot, on-the-go food.

The concession stand at this spot is also an option.

Renaissance Island does have public restrooms for your convenience. Additionally, visitors can access lounge chairs at this spot. The water in the area is clear enough for snorkeling, so bring your gear if you're hoping to find some interesting marine life.

Still, make sure you realize that even though there are luckily some comforts available at Renaissance Island, it can be found within a major tourist area. If you seek to avoid the crowds, there is an appropriate motivator to plan ahead to beat all the other tourists, maybe arriving in the morning. If not, you may run the risk of all the amenities being overwhelmed.

What's Nearby

The beach is wonderful, but the surrounding area has a lot to offer, too. Look for it on the West coast of Aruba; the area hosts attractions such as Casa di Cultura, which is pretty close, so some guests will want to walk to this attraction, while others will choose to take a cab.

Historical attractions such as Fort Zoutman provide a nice compliment to a soothing day at Renaissance Island, and provide beachgoers with the opportunity to learn about Aruba's past, without having to stray too far from the beach.
