The most popular beach on the entire island, Orient Bay is also the most developed with restaurants, bars, shops, and hotels.  The beach itself is the main attraction, keeping visitors entertained whether they spend their time sunbathing (clothing is optional here) or participating in watersports. If you're looking to spend some time doing something away from the shore, you'll want to make plans to visit another local town.

Orient Beach

There are several beaches to consider visiting in and around the area. Snorkeling is available at several locations, for those who are so inclined. You can click on the name of the beach for more information concerning that particular location.

A beach scene where you can go snorkeling is Orient Beach. On the east side of the island, this beach is heavily developed and the best way to access this beach is to park at one of the restaurants that line the shore.

Another good option for snorkelers is Galion Beach. This is a beautiful beach with stunning white sand and crystalline waters. There are wonderful views of the sunrise on the eastern beach.

Green Cay: If you'd like to get away from the more crowded and well-known Orient Bay Beach, just head to nearby Green Cay (Caye Verte) for a bit of escapism on a gorgeous and serene beach.

Orient Bay and the surrounding areas have plenty of other beach choices. Navigate here to check out our page dedicated to beaches for Orient Bay.

Landmark Attractions

Yoda Guy Movie Exhibit

An interesting landmark worth visiting is The Old House. It is found in southwestern Orient Bay. While the Museum is closed on Monday and Saturday, it is open on the other five days of the week from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Many travelers also choose to visit Mount Vernon Plantation. It is situated in southwestern Orient Bay. In addition to being home to a variety of fruit trees and some sugar cane, Mount Vernon Plantation is also the home to some old mill buildings that are a rare feature on the island. These humble buildings once served as the backbone to the entire St. Martin economy for decades, producing the products that made this island so lucrative to the European colonial powers.

Hope Estate Archeological Site: While at first glance this site may seem nothing more than another piece of land in Saint Martin's center, this area was actually the site of an Arawak Village built around 500 BC, and not abandoned until 450 AD. Archaeologist have been able to find artifacts here including pottery and ruins of the ancient village.

But that's not all -- you will find some other sites to visit. For a more comprehensive look at other enjoyable places to visit in and around Orient Bay, read this article.
