This beach is on St. Martin's eastern side. It has a wide stretch of sand covered in palm trees, which provide relief from the bright sunlight.
Positioned in Saint Martin, 0.6 miles northeast of Oyster Pond, Baie Lucas Beach is on the South East coast of the island of St. Martin and Sint Maarten. You should consider stopping by regardless of whether you are staying in the vicinity. Peace and quiet is what you'll find at the majority of St. Martin's beaches, but at Baie Lucas Beach, you'll find the same sense of serenity, without sacrificing a fun and social atmosphere.
Baie Lucas is located off Rue de Coralita, just north of the St. Martin-Sint Maarten border at Oyster Pond. Stick to the coastal road and it will be hard to miss.
The sand here is soft and white, the ocean floor is shallow for a ways out into the ocean, but has coral and rock formations under the waves, good for snorkeling but somewhat inconvenient for swimming and wading. The clearest ocean floor is on the south side of the beach, where the sand thins out. If you explore the beach you may also spot a tower, which serves as a good observation post. Notice too that there is a small island just offshore of the tower, and anyone with some hard soled water-shoes and a sense of adventure will be able to cross the gap and explore that island as well.
Keep in mind that restrooms won't be found on-site, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.
Bear in mind that Baie Lucas Beach's immediate surroundings are an urban area, so plan accordingly.
