23 | Nassau Water Tower

This water tower was built in 1928 and funded by the United States as a reward for the Bahamas helping to prevent illegal shipments of alcohol to the US during the era of prohibition. In addition to storing water, the tower is also an observation tower that tourists can climb.

Sometime between the years 1793 and 1794, 65 steps were carved out of limestone by hand using only axes and other hand tools using slave labor.
