Colonial Beach

A quieter area than some of the nearby beaches, Colonial Beach is a great spot catch some rays and watch the many boats coming in and out as they make their way around Paradise Island and into Nassau Harbor. There's also an interesting lighthouse - the Nassau Port Lighthouse - you'll want to check out a stone's thrown to the west.

Positioned toward the center of Paradise Island, 3.6 miles north of Nassau, Colonial Beach is on the North East coast of the island, You should consider stopping by even if you are not staying nearby. Many of the beaches in the Bahamas are quiet and secluded, but Colonial Beach is a little different. You'll still find it has a calm, serene mood, but you can visit without having to travel too far from the buzz of the city.

How to Access The Beach

There are multiple bridges taking you onto Paradise Island, and of course a boat will get you there. Once on the island, park and start walking in the direction of the lighthouse. It'll be on your right just before you get all the way there.

Amenities and Ambiance

This pearly white stretch of sand runs along the eastern peninsula of Paradise Island, across the harbor from downtown Nassau. Rather than looking back over the harbor, though, the beach is buffered from the city by a forested area, and instead looks out over the vast Atlantic.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business.

Since Colonial Beach is located within a major tourist area, many try to show up early.
