The Straw Market stems from the Bahama;'s history. Originally, around the early 1940's, the craft and skills of braiding, weaving and plaiting were useful for weaving baskets for carrying fruit and fishing traps. But after the end of World War II, North Americans began visiting the Bahamas and straw craft souvenirs became popular.

You will be able to find nearly any hand made product here from baskets, to clothes and blankets, to toys, and other souvenirs.
