Currently one of the trendiest destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, Playa del Carmen is a place to see and be seen.  That doesn't mean you can't squeeze a bit of culture in at the same time.  If you're up for a small amount of driving, just outside are the mysterious Mayan ruins that can't be missed as well as a local culture and history museum.  Meanwhile, right within city limits you'll find a lighthouse, several natural sites, and of course, the world-famous beaches.

Beaches

Playa del Carmen

El Faro: Lined with lounge chairs, sunbathers can always be viewed along the shore of El Faro. The sand is white, soft and smooth, well kept besides the beach's popularity, and the water that washes ashore is clear and turquoise.

A second option for beach-goers to consider is Playa del Carmen. Set in a resort town of the same name, Playa del Carmen is one of the most popular beaches in the Maya Riviera. Just south of Cancun, the beach is not only known for its gorgeous tropical scenery, but the wealth of activities than guests can partake in, such as snorkeling and other water sports, fishing, beach volleyball, sunbathing, and more.

Maroma Beach: A quiet beach worlds away from the busy shores of Cancun, Maroma Beach is typified by 500 acres of white sand and rainforested lands.
