Playa Del Carmen Attractions

Currently one of the trendiest destinations in the Mexican Caribbean, Playa del Carmen is a place to see and be seen.  That doesn't mean you can't squeeze a bit of culture in at the same time.  If you're up for a small amount of driving, just outside are the mysterious Mayan ruins that can't be missed as well as a local culture and history museum.  Meanwhile, right within city limits you'll find a lighthouse, several natural sites, and of course, the world-famous beaches.

Beaches

Playa del Carmen

El Faro: El Faro Beach is a part of a much larger stretch of sand along the coast in Playa del Carmen. With several hotel properties set right on the beach, you can always expect this spot to be busy.

Another location to consider is Playa del Carmen. Playa del Carmen's Main Beach is located on 4 Nte. bis, between Hotel All Riviera and Fusion.

Maroma Beach: Pure white sands, warm deep blue waters, and stucco huts with thatched roof are what you'll encounter when you arrive at Maroma Beach. The beach is lined with palm trees and the calm waters are great for snorkeling.

Museums

In case you like to learn about other people and places, you might enjoy visiting a museum during your vacation.

A common landmark for vacationers is Cedam Museum. It is found in Puerto Aventuras, South West of Playa Del Carmen. History buffs and anyone interested in the maritime past of Puerto Rico will want to take a visit to the Cedam Museum. The museum features exhibits that will take visitors through the naval history of the island, and more specifically the La Gloria area.

Located in Marina Vallartas is the 110-foot tall lighthouse called "El Faro," which translates to "the Lighthouse." Xaman-Ha Aviary

One of the more popular natural attractions is Xaman-Ha Aviary. Xaman Ha Aviary is a great spot for birders, who will be sure to see several different species of tropical birds throughout the jungle.
