Errant tee shot are punished harshly, as the fairways are not only long and thin, but also surrounded by thick rough. There is little hope of retrieving your ball if you get stuck in such thick foliage. Though the course is challenging, a round here is a most tranquil experience. Water comes into play infrequently, but when it does, you'll find stunning lakes teeming with wildlife. Moreover, the course benefits from creative bunkering designs throughout.
Founded in 1994, this course in Cancun and the Mexican Caribbean has become an established site for visiting golfers. The lay of the land, hole placement, and feared sand traps reflect the design of Robert Von Hagge, the lead architect of the course. It has been given a course rating of 70.7, and its 18 holes stretch out a total of 6269 yards.
The course winds through various resorts and villas. Along with the accommodation complexes, the course has been carved out of the Maya Riviera on the southern tip of Playa del Carmen. Tucked in by the surrounding jungle, nearly hole is visually closed off from the others. Golfers are thus forced to take it one hole at a time, and to really feel a part of the course's surroundings.

Greens fees for 18 holes are $180. Juniors, and those teeing off after 2pm will get discount rates. Clubs can be rented for $30-50.

Playacar Golf Course is in the same region as Playa del Carmen, the closest city, so touring the city could be a fun side-trip after visiting the golf course. The city is one and a quarter miles off from the course. Because it's so close by, it will not take too long to head that way for some urban exploration.
At a few hundred yards away off from the golf course, the most proximate airport,, is often utilized by the same group of tourists as those that go golfing at Playacar Golf Course.

All of them are within 12 and a half miles and the nearest of the group, El Camaleon Mayakoba, is effortlessly driven to by cab, so hire a car and get a ride there for a great golfing experience.
