Playacar Golf Course

Errant tee shot are punished harshly, as the fairways are not only long and thin, but also surrounded by thick rough. There is little hope of retrieving your ball if you get stuck in such thick foliage. Though the course is challenging, a round here is a most tranquil experience. Water comes into play infrequently, but when it does, you'll find stunning lakes teeming with wildlife. Moreover, the course benefits from creative bunkering designs throughout.

Course Description

This course could be considered a classic place to play a few rounds, since it was built in 1994. The layout, hole placement, and practice areas reflect the design of Robert Von Hagge, the architect of the course. The golf course has been given a course rating of 70.7, and its 18 holes measure a total of 6269 yards.

The course winds through various resorts and villas. Along with the accommodation complexes, the course has been carved out of the Maya Riviera on the southern tip of Playa del Carmen. Tucked in by the surrounding jungle, nearly hole is visually closed off from the others. Golfers are thus forced to take it one hole at a time, and to really feel a part of the course's surroundings.
