St-John Perse Museum is both historical colonial home and tribute to poet and Nobel laureate Alexis Léger, who was also known as Saint John Perse. He grew up just down the street from this home, and today, his collected works as well as a recreation of his home can be found at the museum.
The first floor features manuscripts and personal items of St. John Perse, while the ground floor is a reconstruction of a 19th century home.
You may enjoy staying in Pointe A Pitre if you plan on visiting St John Perse Museum, since those visiting this part of Guadeloupe will have convenient access to the museum during their time there. There are a small collection of hotels stationed in the area around the museum.
