One might describe Ponce as the second busiest city on Puerto Rico.  Next to San Juan, this town has the most variety of attractions to choose from.  Not only can you relax on a gorgeous beach, it under a coconut tree in an inner city park, or check out one of the multiple museums and historical sites during the day, but your nights can be spent finding out just how lucky you are in a local casino.

Beaches

La Guancha

You will discover a large number of beaches to consider visiting in and around the area. Click on the name of the beach to read a detailed article concerning that individual beach.

Ponce Beach: Just to the west of Ponce, you can find a couple of roads that head south through the mangroves. Careful drivers of ATVs or durable cars can follow dirt paths to the beach.

Another alternative worth considering is Playa de Ponce. On the southern coast of Puerto Rico, Playa de Ponce is situated along the Caribbean where the water is calm and gentle. The sand is tan while the water is a deep aquamarine, and trees dot the shore.

La Guancha: No sand of note lines the shores of La Guancha, just a boardwalk set up along the sea. The boardwalk is comprised of wooden plans, and green-roofed buildings are set behind the walk on the paved area.

Needless to say, you'll find a nice selection of beaches to choose from in and around the area. To see our complete guide to beaches, go to this article.

A second place you might like is Bosque Estatal De Toro Negro. While not the most popular of Puerto Rico's natural attractions, the park at Toro Negro Forest offers a varied experience for hikers looking for a day of sightseeing and trail blazing.
