There is much to recommend a vacation in Ponce, from the museums to the nightlife, but what many tourists are most concerned with is the beach situation. Ponce is home to four main beaches and a few others in outlying areas. All are equipped with facilities such as picnic tables and barbecue pits, bathrooms, and one even has a boardwalk with shops and restaurants. A day at the beach in Ponce is more of an experience here than nearly anywhere else in Puerto Rico, and definitely worth a visit.
You'll discover an abundance of beaches to visit in and around the area. You can click on the name of the beach for more detail concerning that section of the coast.
La Guancha: No sand of note lines the shores of La Guancha, just a boardwalk set up along the sea. The boardwalk is comprised of wooden plans, and green-roofed buildings are set behind the walk on the paved area.
Another alternative to consider is Bainairo Beach. Bainairo Beach is backed by a collection of buildings cramped together along the shore, and not far behind that a busy main road. The beach features white colored sand and turquoise waters.
Isla Caja de Muertos Beach: A ferry boat out of Ponce makes one trip to and one trip from this island. It leaves from the La Guancha Marina at 8:30 a.m.
