The rum and sugar industry have long been an important part of the economy in Puerto Rico. At Museo Castillo Serralles, visitors will have the opportunity to learn more about the industry.

Exhibits and Offerings

Start at the La Hacienda Mercedita, which was the home of the Serralles family, who own the rum distillery which produces Don Q Puerto Rican Rum. Inside is a museum dedicated to the history of rum making on the island, and visitors will have the opportunity to tour the refurbished home and see how the Serralles family lived. Next, wonder outside through the gardens, which are very well-kept, and features a calming fountain. Don't forget to visit the gift shop and cafe before you head out for the day.

At the museum, you can enjoy a dining area for patron use.

You may enjoy staying in Ponce if you plan on visiting Museo Castillo Serralles, as those visiting this region of Puerto Rico will have the benefit of easy museum access for the duration of their trip. Museo Castillo Serralles is open between the hours of 9:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with the last tour beginning at 5:15 p.m. It is closed on Monday.
