As you can imagine because Ponce is an important port, it is a popular yachting destination as well. Folks who enjoy sailing can chart the course and make their way to this town on their own private vessel, or hire a charter and a crew to do the work for them.


When they arrive, sailors will be greeted by the Ponce Yacht and Fishing Club Marina, which has a long list of services available to those who take up the 168 available slips. These include wireless Internet, a supply and grocery store, restaurants, restrooms and showers, electricity, water hooks ups, a club house, a pool, an exercise room, a playground, gold, tennis, child care services and more.

Before enjoying all of these offerings; however, sailors will have to gain clearance and purchase a 12 month cruising permit for between $25 and $37(USD) depending upon their country of origin. This can be done right in Ponce because the town is an official port of entry. If you have any questions about the process, you can call customs offices at 787-841-3130 between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Try to avoid calling between noon and 1:00 p.m., when they break for lunch.
