If sailing is your passion, you won't want to miss the opportunity to sail to Port Antonio, which is known as one of the best ports of call on the island. It is home to the Errol Flynn Marina, which is owned by the Jamaica Port of Authority and known for its calm waters and excellent facilities.
As you approach Port Antonio, raise your “Q” flag so customs knows you have not yet gained official authorization. When you dock, you will be asked to present your permission to depart forms from your last port of call, the registration paperwork for the vessel, a list of the ship's stores, and crew list and declaration. There are no fees to enter or depart, so long as you do so during regular business hours, which are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. Once cleared, you can dock your boat and begin your exploration of Port Antonio and the rest of Jamaica.
The Errol Flynn Marina is a top choice for docking. It is the newest facility and has the best amenities around. You'll find it in West Harbour and can pay $15(USD) a day to anchor off the marina. The fee includes the use of the dinghy dock, laundry access, the use of a pool, showers, and the protection of the marina security. Note that the two previously used marinas have fallen into disrepair and should be avoided.
