Fort George

Fort George was built in 1804 by Sir Thomas Hislop to protect the city from Napoleon's naval fleet. Today, it looks over the beautiful city of St. James and offers it's visitors a spectacular view of the Gulf of Paria.


Managed by the National Trust of Trinidad and Tobago, this is a protected historical location. It contains cannons, a signal station, and picnic areas for visitors to enjoy the sweeping view. It is often recommended to visit at sunset.
