Port of Spain is a great sailing destination because it is home to a major port and several places for pleasure sailors to dock. Plus, the clearance process is fairly simple. Even those who don't want to make the long journey to Trinidad will be able to sail when they arrive.
If you're simply wanting to spend a few hours on the water, without the complications and cost associated with renting a boat you can join an excursion. Wanting to know more how long you'll spend on the water and what's included? Check out the chart below to find contact information for area excursion services.
Chartering is big in Port of Spain because Trinidad is so far away in its location at the end of the chain of Caribbean islands. Few sailors end up deciding to make the journey all the way out this way when there are so many other stops they can make along the way within the region. But many trained sailors do end up vacationing here and simply cannot resist the lure of the sea. Fortunately, there are several different charter companies in and around Port of Spain that allow them to get their fix.
If you're thinking about a boat charter, you can reserve one from these area firms:
|(868) 634-4551||Western Main Rd Chag - Chaguaramas|
|(868) 634-4472||Williams Bay - Chaguaramas|
|(868) 678-1426||43 Beechwood Drive - The vicinity of Port of Spain|
Your first stop upon sailing into local waters will be in Chaguaramas, which is the official port of entry. There you'll tie up and visit the Immigrations and Customs offices on land. You'll need to present a clearance-out certificate from your last port of call, passports of everyone aboard, and a list of the ship's stores. If everything checks out, you'll be allowed to head over to Port of Spain where you'll find the Trinidad and Tobago Yacht Club as well as Tardieu Marine Ltd.
