Cabrits Historical and Marine Park

This nature preserve is a mixture of forest and swampland that today is the location of choice for both tourists and migratory birds. In addition, the site is also home to a large fort built by the British in the latter part of the eighteenth century that included around 50 different building.

Cabrits Historical and Marine Park offer a variety of trails that guests can travel that offer a variety of scenery; ranging from ocean views along the coast to the sight of ruins and old forts. A small museum also onsite is perfect for history buffs.


Located on the island of Dominica, 1.6 miles south west of Tanetane, Cabrits Historical and Marine Park always welcomes residents and guests who are rooming on this part of the island or close by. Regardless of whether or not you are staying in the vicinity, you should feel free to stop by to check it out. If you're curious, Portsmouth is to the east-southeast.

The park itself is generally open all day, from sunup to sundown. However, some of the staffed features like the museum is only open from 9:00am until 5:00pm.


Guests are free to check out the area, though there will be admission (around $5) to gain access to the museum.
