At 28 square miles, Providenciales is the third largest island of the Turks and Caicos chain.  You can travel from one end of the island to the other and find plenty to keep you busy from museums and historic landmarks, to beaches and parks.  There is even a single casino for those who enjoy playing games of chance.

Beaches

Grace Bay Beach

You will discover a large selection of beaches to consider visiting on the island. Snorkeling is available at some of the beaches, for people who enjoy the underwater scene. Click on each beach name to get additional information concerning that particular location.

If you like snorkeling, a location with that option is Grace Bay Beach. Grace Bay Beach is accessible just off the main thoroughfare, Lower Bright Road, near the Provo Sailing Club. Follow the dirt road passed the club until you find parking.

Another good option for those who enjoy snorkeling is Blue Haven Beach. Great for those looking to escape the crowds of Grace Bay, Leeward Beach offers a long coast, bright white sand, and sapphire blue water. With just the occasional villa, and with the only resorts you'll see being at the horizon, Leeward Beach is a conveniently located, but quiet beach.

Davy Bight Beach: Bright turquoises waters line the shores of Davy Bight Beach, which are powdered with white sand. Though resort guests often speckle the landscape, for the most part the beach remains relatively uncrowded.

Providenciales has a nice selection of beach choices. For a better look at this topic, visit this page.

Historical Sites

Caicos Heritage House

Do you like discovering the history of the places you visit? If yes, you might want to visit some of these historical sites during your time on Providenciales.

A landmark that often intrigues visitors is Caicos Heritage House. It is located in Grace Bay, Providenciales. The Turks and Caicos National Museum and the Caicos Heritage House opens an hour after cruise ships arrive and closes an hour before they depart. Additionally, they also have regular hours of 9:00am to 1:00pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Thursday.

Another landmark worth visiting is Cheshire Hall. It is found within Five Cays Settlements, in central Providenciales. Along the tour of the ruins there will be information placards that guest can read to get a better idea of what they are looking at. Additionally, the staff have taken some time to mark and describe some of the plants that are native to the area, creating a type of history-botanical garden mix.

Wades Green Plantation: What remains of the plantation today is ruins of the main stone house, several outbuildings, and the walls that surround the property. Unpaved paths lead through the ruins, which can make it a slightly difficult trek, but there are tiled plaques describing the buildings and their significance.
