Attractions on Providenciales

At 28 square miles, Providenciales is the third largest island of the Turks and Caicos chain. You can travel from one end of the island to the other and find plenty to keep you busy from museums and historic landmarks, to beaches and parks. There is even a single casino for those who enjoy playing games of chance.

Grace Bay Beach

You will discover a large number of beaches to visit on the island. Snorkeling is an option at some locations, for people who are so inclined. Just click on the name of each beach to get additional information concerning that individual beach.

A beach scene where you can go snorkeling is Grace Bay Beach. This twelve mile beach on the northeast coast of the island will thrill guests with its soft white sands and sparkling waters. Grace Bay Beach, a popular spot, is known as one of the best beaches in the Caribbean, however, its length makes it easy to find a secluded spot and lounge along the shore.

Another good choice for snorkelers is Blue Haven Beach. Great for those looking to escape the crowds of Grace Bay, Leeward Beach offers a long coast, bright white sand, and sapphire blue water. With just the occasional villa, and with the only resorts you'll see being at the horizon, Leeward Beach is a conveniently located, but quiet beach.

Davy Bight Beach: Bright turquoises waters line the shores of Davy Bight Beach, which are powdered with white sand. Though resort guests often speckle the landscape, for the most part the beach remains relatively uncrowded.

Luckily, the area has a nice selection of choices for beaches on the island. To learn about more beaches available, visit this page.

Historical Sites

Caicos Heritage House

In case you enjoy learning about the historical roots of a foreign country, you should consider visiting some of these historical sites during your time on Providenciales.

An interesting landmark worth visiting is Caicos Heritage House. It is located within Grace Bay, Providenciales. Guests have an opportunity to explore exhibits that were meticulously created after many hours of careful research. The overall goal is to offer an authentic preservation of history.

Many travelers also choose to visit Cheshire Hall. It is found within Five Cays Settlements, in central Providenciales. The Cheshire Hall is the ruins of a cotton plantation that was built around 1700. Guest can explore the ruins on guided tours and get a glimpse of the unsuccessful cotton history in the Caicos islands.

Wades Green Plantation: What remains of the plantation today is ruins of the main stone house, several outbuildings, and the walls that surround the property. Unpaved paths lead through the ruins, which can make it a slightly difficult trek, but there are tiled plaques describing the buildings and their significance.

Take some time to look through the table just below for more information on sites of historical interest on and near the island.

It is located in Bringamosa, Providenciales.
The Hole is just that -- a hole in the ground on the island of Providenciales from which visitors are lowered down by rope to swim in the waters of Long Bay. This can be dangerous, so only the adventurous need apply.
