Little Water Cay (Iguana Island) Beach

Little Water Cay is a small island near Providenciales also known as Iguana Island after the 2,000 Rock Iguanas that inhabit the land mass. Although the island is surrounded by enticing beaches, visitors may not utilize them due to their status as a protective area of the endangered species. Still, an island tour by members of the National Trust is well worth the trip and $5.

Located on the island of Little Water Cay, 2.8 miles west-southwest of Pine Cay, Little Water Cay (Iguana Island) Beach is on the North East coast of the island, You should consider stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby. It's often said that Little Water Cay (Iguana Island) Beach is one of the best spots for escaping over-crowded hangouts in the town proper. Most other beaches in Turks and Caicos may be just as beautiful, but are usually busier since they're found in the most popular parts of town.

How to Access The Beach
The only way to get to Little Water Cay is by water crossing. Many visitors choose to take a 10 minute boat ride from the Leeward Marina on Providenciales, while others opt to be in control by renting kayaks and making the journey that way. Many tour companies also offer packages that include transportation to the island.

Amenities and Ambiance

From a boardwalk that stretches across the 150 acres, tourists can view not only the Rock Iguana, but the fine-powder beaches, red mangroves, small lakes, and verdant tropical scenery. The boardwalk was built in order to protect the iguanas, and visitors are not permitted to step off.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. Happily, the off-shore waters are fit for snorkeling, so bring your equipment if you're looking to see what goes on beneath the surface.
