North West Point

Northwest Point is home to the Northwest Point Marine Natural Park and the Northwest Point Pond Nature Reserve, so it is easy to see why this Providenciales locale is popular amongst Eco-tourists. Not only is this spot a popular nesting breeding ground for a wide array of birds (great the for birders out there!), but the offshore reef can make for a promising snorkeling setting when the water isn't rough.

The landscape of North West Point is rugged and rocky, and features two inland salt water ponds, a mangrove tree encircled shallow, muddy salt flat, and a number of small coves.

North West Point is not great for swimming, however, when the water is relatively calm, snorkeling can yield great results. Birders should be on the lookout for Oyster Catchers, Stilts, Flamingos, Great and Reddish Egrets, and more.


Located on the northwestern part of the island of Providenciales, 5.4 miles northwest of Blue Hills, North West Point invites local residents and travelers rooming on this part of the island or close by. But even if you aren't staying particularly close, you are free to stop by for some fun in the sun.

Visitors can get to Northwest Point by following Millennium Highway all the way to the end. After the entrance to Northwest Point Resort you will see a small sign that says "Natural Park." Continue following the road for about a mile until you get close to the coast, where you should try and park somewhere before you hit sand.

If your belly starts rumbling during visit, don't worry -- you're going to find a broad selection of dining options in this general area. Da Conch Shack, which has a menu full of Caribbean meals, is also the most convenient option for visitors here. It's only about four and a half miles away from North West Point, so check it out and eat up! Sailing Paradise and Three Queens Bar and Restaurant are some of the other At Three Queens Bar and Restaurant you and your group can not ask for your check without taking a bite of their specialty, seafood.

Visitors that are a fan of North West Point, and would like to see others, should consider going to Mule Point and Pelican Point; the first and closest of which is three quarters of a mile to the southeast of North West Point. Other types of local activities include Northwest Point National Park, which is a few hundred yards away Providenciales. Also, you might think about making the trip to Cheshire Hall, which is another attraction not far away.
