Located approximately half way between Florida and Puerto Rico, Turks and Caicos is a popular stop for sailors from the East Coast of the United States because there are so many islands to visit and explore under the umbrella of a single cruising permit.

If you simply want to spend some time on the water, without the complications and cost involved with renting a boat you can take an excursion. Wondering what's included and how long a trip lasts? Check out the listing below for contact information for area excursion services.

As you sail into local waters, make sure to be keenly aware of the coral reef so you avoid damage to the coral or your vessel. Place a call to VHF Channel 16 to ensure a customs official will be waiting for you, and make sure to have all of your documentation on hand. This will include a complete list of the ship's stores, a crew and passenger list, and documentation from your previous port of call. Once approved, you will be allowed to sail around Providenciales for one week.

If you'd like to sail to other islands, make sure to ask for a cruising permit that includes these islands, and if you plan on staying for more than one week, you'll need to dock and head to immigration to apply for the appropriate permit. Once you've gained clearance, you'll be able to docks at one of several locations on Provo.
