A small beach, and not very well known by tourists, Thompson Cove Beach is frequented mainly by locals and those staying at nearby villas. The shallow cove and white sand make it perfect for relaxing, but not much else. If you are looking for a spot in the warm sun to lay out on, then Thompson Cove is your place.
Positioned toward the center of the island of Providenciales, 1.8 miles southeast of Blue Hills, Thompson Cove Beach is on the West-Northwest coast of the island, You should think about stopping by whether or not you are staying in the immediate vicinity. Thompson Cove Beach is somewhat unique because it's a generally active beach, but it's rarely packed with crowds of beachgoers. If you want to avoid Turks and Caicos' highly secluded beaches, dut don't want to be overwhelmed by crowds of hotel guests, this beach has the best of bost worlds.
For being a “hidden” beach, Thompson Cove is surprisingly easy to find. From Grace Bay, just head west on Leeward Highway. After the first roundabout, just as you pass the hospital, there will be a road on the right called Thompson Cove Road. As you might expect, this road leads to the beach. If you find yourself at the second roundabout (right before the airport) you missed your turn.
There is really not much in the way of anything at Thompson Beach. Small rocks and urchins can be found in the water, making it hard to swim or wade, and the occasional rock can make beach activities difficult. This is a quiet beach for those looking to relax.
Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside.
Remember to take into account that the area right around Thompson Cove Beach is rather congested, so plan accordingly.
