Bosque Estatal De Río Abajo

This large park was once nearly bare of all trees, thanks to an aggressive logging industry on the island in the early 1900's. Thankfully, the park was established and a replanting movement went underway, and now this forest has reclaimed 5000 acres of land.

Visitors to the park will be treated to a large selection of nature trails that will take them down the very roads used by the loggers around a century ago. Hikers will have plenty of opportunities to see plenty of birds and other wildlife as the twist through the forest.

Bosque Estatal De Río Abajo lies toward the center of the island of Puerto Rico, 9.1 miles south of Arecibo; it's 4.7 miles to the north of Utuado.

You will have to take a car if you want to reach this natural park. Just beware that the roads here are rough, any small cars may not be able to handle the transitions.
