Bosque Estatal De Toro Negro

While not the most popular of Puerto Rico's natural attractions, the park at Toro Negro Forest offers a varied experience for hikers looking for a day of sightseeing and trail blazing.

There are nearly a dozen different trail patterns you can take, with some short and sweet and others long. Some of the trails will take you by ruins and hills offering fantastic views, while other will take you into hidden clearings with waterfalls.

Location

Bosque Estatal De Toro Negro is found on the island of Puerto Rico, it is 10.8 miles to the north-northeast of Ponce.

If you've worked up an appetite during your visit to the wildlife reserve, don't worry -- you can find numerous choices of dining possibilities near this attraction. The most convenient place to eat to Bosque Estatal De Toro Negro is All Star Cafe, a wonderful restaurant to enjoy a meal at before checking out the nature preserve. Also within reach, you and your party will find restaurants such as Bianca's Cafe and Cafe Jayuya so if you're lucky, at least one of these close by eateries will satiate the whole group.

Hours

There are no official hours for the park, especially since campers will be staying overnight. However, the ranger office does have hours. It is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am until 4:00pm.

Cost

There is no admission for those that want to enter the park. If you are looking to camp, though, you will need to pay a fee per person that varies throughout the year.
