Between Isabela and Quebradillas on Puerto Rico's north coast is Guajataca Beach. This beach, though beautiful and inviting, is not for swimming. Guajataca Beach is located off Highway 2 as you head from Isabela to Quebradillas. To get to the beach, park off the road and walk the coastal trail through an abandoned train tunnel.
Rugged cliffs watch over Guajataca Beach. The sands are soft and white, dotted with seashells that wash ashore in high tide, and the waters are aquamarine. Palm trees fringe the beach, and to the east, Guajataca River feeds into the ocean.

Quebradillas is the closest town and is noted for its balance between seclusion and urbanization. From the beach, Quebradillas is just up the road, roughly two miles (three kilometers).
The popularity of this spot on any given day can vary, depending on when you visit, and how many people have booked rooms nearby. The area does not have very many large hotels, but it's sometimes enjoyed by guests from smaller lodgings in the area.

Another location you might enjoy is Bridges Beach, found only a taxi trip away from the shore. If you're on the lookout for more active and social, The Shacks may be just what you're looking for. It's located 13 miles to the west.
Another option worth considering is Jabos Beach, which is located not a great distance away, meaning a short cab ride is an easy option.
