Famous for the caves that are a product of the karst formations underground, the Guajataca State Forest is a popular destination for anyone looking to head underground.

The area is littered with a number of cavers that are luckily not flooded, and open to the public. Visitors to the park will be able to take several trails, some that lead tot he caves, and other that lead to high hills that provide hikers with some fantastic sights of the surrounding area.

Located on the western part of the island of Puerto Rico, 6.2 miles south-southeast of Isabela, Guajataca State Forest invites residents and guests who are rooming on this part of the island or close by. But even if you aren't staying particularly close, you should think about stopping by to check out the sights. From this location, Quebradillas is five miles (seven and a half kilometers) to the northeast.

Anyone driving to the Guajataca State Forest will be able to find plenty of parking at the designated parking area off of PR-446, at the front of the park.
