La Bahia Fosforescente

One of nature's wonders is the existence of phosphorescent bays, like La Bahia Fosforescente, where millions of glowing marine dwellers cause the lake to glow a bright blue on a nightly basis.


La Bahia Fosforescente is located on the southwestern side of the island of Puerto Rico, 13.1 miles southeast of Cabo Rojo; it is three and a half miles (five and a half kilometers) to the east of La Parguera.

Vacationers that are a fan of bays, and have the energy to view some others, should consider Puerto Quijano and Bahia de Guanica; the first is a mile and a half to the west-southwest of this page's natural attraction. There are at least one or two other attractions in the area, including La Parguera Nature Reserve, which is a quarter mile away near La Parguera. Also, you might think about making the trip to Punta Papayo, which is another attraction in the area.
