Offering fantastic snorkeling and located just off a main road near plenty of amenities, Shacks Beach is perfect for anyone looking for a compromise between the crowd-heavy beaches of San Juan, and the more natural beaches of rural Puerto Rico.
Located on the northern edge of Isabela, Shacks Beach is on the West coast of Puerto Rico. You should consider dropping by even if you aren't staying in the immediate vicinity.
The beach is located directly north of the center of the city, Isabela. Taking Calle Emilio Gonzalez north, just keep going north until you are at the beach.
The main features of the beach are under the water. snorkelers and divers will find underwater caverns, plenty of fish and perhaps even a sea turtle floating by.
Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun. The water here is clear and good for snorkeling, so purchase or rent some gear if you want to check out what lies beneath the surface.
Since Shacks Beach happens to be located in a relatively urbanized region, many try to show up early.

Nearby, you'll find the town of Quebradillas, which is a region with interesting things to do, yet is never overly congested. From the shore, Quebradillas is located roughly six and a half miles (ten kilometers) away.
Whether this spot is full of bodies or practically empty will depend on many factors, including the capacity of nearby hotels. There aren't many major hotels nearby, but it can appeal to guests from the few small lodgings in the area.
