Not far from some major tourist areas, The Shacks has been able to keep a low profile despite its very large beach and relatively easy access. Being located right where the Atlantic Ocean turns into the Caribbean Sea, this beach has a nice hybrid of clear Caribbean Waters and rough Atlantic Waves.
Located in the vicinity of Aguadilla, The Shacks is on the West edge of Puerto Rico. You should consider stopping by regardless of whether you're staying very close. There are advantages to visiting a beach that isn't lined with high-rise hotels; secluded parts of the coast like The Shacks might not be typical "beach scenes", but are nice and private.
When driving on Borinquen Avenue, there will be a road that cuts right across the golf course that will take you right by the beach. You will need to go a little off-road to reach the parking area, but nothing that a regular car could not handle.
Defined by the central rock formation and cliff (which also serves as a parking area) the beach offers guests clean sand and water and plenty of room to spread out. Additionally the all of trees help block out view of the city life just a few miles away, letting guests relax with ease.
There is also a restaurant on-location, which many The Shacks visitors find convenient and satisfying. There are several, unique dining options in Puerto Rico, but not every meal needs to be eaten in a formal setting. Some visitors, in fact, simply sit on their towels——not in a restaurant——to enjoy lunch. Did you know that many hotels are able to pack picnic lunches for their guests? Or, it would be easy to grab some hot food from a street vendor or casual cafe along the way.
Travelers can take advantage of the available picnic tables, so you can save your picnic lunch from the sand.
The Shacks does have public restrooms for your convenience. The water in the area is of good snorkeling quality, so grab your gear if you are looking to do some underwater exploration.
This beach is positioned on the West coast of Puerto Rico; the area hosts attractions such as Punta Borinquen Golf Club, which is not very far away, so tourists could take a cab or probably walk to this attraction.
To some, museums and beaches may seem an odd combination, but plenty of visitors find that museums like Maritime Museum (located 11 and a half miles away) offer an entertaining diversion and a new way to experience Puerto Rico's culture.

There are plenty of beautiful beach locations to choose from in Puerto Rico, and The Shacks is just one option.
You might also enjoy Bridges Beach, found a quick car or cab ride away. If you're looking for a more active beach scene, Indicators may be just what you're looking for. You'll find it 11 and a half miles to the south west.
Another sun-drenched spot to consider is Crash Boat Beach, which is located two and a half miles away.
The Shacks could be the ideal stretch of sand, but it is possible that it may not be the best choice for your family; in which case there are other beaches (and other outdoor attractions) worth trying.
