Since the 1970s, Punta Cana has been one of the most popular resort destinations in the Dominican Republic.  Most people come to spend their days completely on the beaches (which are some of the best around), but there is so much to see and do in the surrounding area that these visitors are selling themselves short.

Beaches

Macao Beach

You'll find an abundance of beaches to consider visiting in the area. Whether you'd rather be part of a busy beach scene, or you prefer a quieter stretch of sand, you're likely to find what you want. Just click on the beach names for detailed information about that section of the coast.

Juanillo Beach: Juanillo Beach features sparkling topaz waters that are clear and calm. They wash ashore clean, powder soft sands that are lined with well trimmed palm trees.

Another location for beach-goers to consider is Cabeza de Toro Beach. A parking lot for Cabeza de Toro is located on the opposite side of the resorts, about 300 meters away from the coastal zone. After parking, there are footpaths through the hotel zone for visitors to take to the beach.

Macao Beach: The view from the shore of Macao is of cliffs to the right and clear turquoise waters as far as the eye can see. Back on land, the beach is tan with clusters of coconut palms providing shade.

These examples are just a sample of what's available. You can go to this page if you want to learn more specifics.

Another idea is to visit some of the more popular area land formations. Fully natural attractions like these in Punta Cana are displayed down below.
