Since the 1970s, Punta Cana has been one of the most popular resort destinations in the Dominican Republic.  Most people come to spend their days completely on the beaches (which are some of the best around), but there is so much to see and do in the surrounding area that these visitors are selling themselves short.

Macao Beach

You'll discover a large number of beaches to consider visiting in the area. Whether you're looking forward to people watching, or you enjoy relaxing in a secluded area, you should be able to find just the right beach. You can click on each beach name to get additional information about that section of the coast.

Juanillo Beach: Juanillo Beach features sparkling topaz waters that are clear and calm. They wash ashore clean, powder soft sands that are lined with well trimmed palm trees.

Another place worth considering is Cabeza de Toro Beach. Cabeza de Toro Beach is located in Higüey, along the Dominican Republic's east coast. This beach is public and has lifeguards on duty form 9 a.m. to 6 .m.

Macao Beach: Macao Beach is located at the end of Carretera Higuey. In fact, the road dead ends right into the sand where you can park.

Punta Cana is home to a nice selection of beaches. To get more information on beaches available, go to this page.

Land Formations

Another idea is to go see some of the more popular area land formations. Other options like these in Punta Cana can be seen here:
