Nim Li Punit, also known as Big Hat, is a Maya site that saw its peak between 500 and 800 AD. This old city that was once home to nearly 7000 people, suddenly ceased to exist sometime in ninth century for reasons not yet known.
You will be able to find this historical site 19 miles (30 and a half kilometers) to the north of Blue Belize.
2 | Port Honduras Marine Reserve
One of the most recently declared marine reserves in Belize is Port Honduras Marine Reserve, which was named as such in January of 2000. It serves as one of the most important fish nurseries in the Caribbean, and is an all around beautiful site to see.
This nature sanctuary/wildlife reserve can be found 23 miles (37 kilometers) to the northeast of Blue Belize.
3 | Sarstooth National Park
A dense jungle and protected refuge for nature, the Sartooth National Park is the prime location for any adventure to try and catch a glimpse of Belize wildlife. With a wild coast that quickly turns into dense forests and underbrush covered floors, you can expect a wide range of creatures to be prowling about.
This nature sanctuary/wildlife reserve is located 16 and a half miles (26 and a half kilometers) south west of Blue Belize.
