Located in East End, along the eastern outskirts of Red Hook, Vessup Bay is on the East edge of St. Thomas. You might think about stopping by even if you are not staying nearby. Located in a heavily traveled area, Vessup Bay is a good choice for beachgoers looking for various interesting activities and sites.

How to Access The Beach
Access to the beach is provided by Vessup Lane, which leads directly into a local boat dock. The area is fairly populated, so taxis also know how to get to the beach area.

Vessup Bay is located within St. Thomas and is bordered by Muller Bay. The island's narrow enclosure that creates the bay allows for calm waters, while the soft sand is perfect for sunbathers.

You will be able to use a public restroom at Vessup Bay. You will find the water here is clear and good for snorkeling, so bring along some gear if you want to do some underwater exploration.

Still, you should be sensitive to the fact that while visitors here find a few amenities available while at Vessup Bay, it will be located in a major tourist area. With that in mind, if you know that these amenities are an important factor, it'll likely be an appropriate motivator to visit earlier in the morning before the crowds fill up or try a beach elsewhere. If not, you might lose the chance to fully enjoy the amenities which Vessup Bay offers.

Vessup Bay is very close to Red Hook, so exploring the city is a convenient option. The nearby town of Red Hook is an area with plenty to do, but yet isn't overcrowded. From the shore, Red Hook is not far away, maybe a quarter mile (a half kilometer).


The crowdedness of the shoreline can vary widely, depending on everything from the time the sun sets to how many of the nearby hotel rooms have been booked.

You shouldn't anticipate finding any of the Virgin Islands' large hotels lining this beach, though if you're looking to dodge hoards of vacationers, the shortage of accommodation options should be welcomed.


If you start getting hungry during your afternoon at the shore, the area near this beach provides some viable options, and you don't have to go far away. Cariga's is one of the closest eateries.
