Yes, Rincon is best known as the surf capital of Puerto Rico, but there is more this destination than beaches.  There is also a museum, a lighthouse, and a park where you can spend your days learning about the natural and cultural history of this sleepy town.  If you're interested in a night of excitement, you can head to nearby Mayaguez for a few hours in the casino.

Rincon Beach

You'll find a large selection of beaches to consider in the area. You can click on each beach name for a detailed article concerning that individual beach.

Sandy Beach: Sandy Beach is more of a surfer's haven than swimmers paradise. Large waves year round make Sandy beach one of the top Surfer destinations in Puerto Rico.

Another alternative to consider is Rincon Beach. To access Rincon Beach, follow PR 413 along the west coast, exiting at Black Eagle Road. Continue down the road until it turns into Black Eagle Marina as you pass Taino Divers and Shipwreck Bar & Grill to the left.

Domes Beach: Domes Beach is located past Lighthouse Park, and marked by a whale-shaped beach marker which will further guide you to the shore.

Fortunately, you will find a wide range of beaches in the area. For more details about beaches, read this page.

Natural Attractions

Mayaguez Zoo

Parque Del Litoral is one of the more frequently visited natural attractions. Much like the Centennial Olympic Park was built in Atlanta, Georgia for the Olympics, in 2009, Parque Del Litoral was built when Puerto Rico was selected to host the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games.

Mayaguez Zoo is another attraction to consider. The largest zoo in Puerto Rico, the Mayaguez zoo features at least 75 different animal species spread out over about thirty exhibits. While it will not stand up against the larger zoos of the world, it provides a great educational experience and a good way to spend the day.

Of course, you'll find quite a few other choices. For more in formation concerning natural attractions in and around the area, visit this page.
