If Rincon is the surfing capital of Puerto Rico, than Maria's is the surfing capital of Rincon. During high season, the waves at Maria soar higher and crash harder than anywhere else on the island. Keep in mind that swimming isn't suggested here, but it is a great locale to watch local surfers, beach comb, and sun bathe.

Located on the island of Puerto Rico, You might want whether or not you are staying nearby. Maria's stands out because it's one of the best spots for escaping the hustle of Puerto Rico's urban areas. Most other beaches in Puerto Rico may be just as refreshing as Maria's, but tend to be more crowded since they're found in the most popular parts of town.

How to Access The Beach
Maria's Beach is located at the junction of Route 413 and Road 4413. Travel past Lighthouse Park were you will find parking next to Calypso Cafe, and you can follow whale-shaped signs to the shore.

Amenities and Ambiance

Maria's Beach is a small, rocky stretch beach lined with thick trees and brush. The sand is tan colored, and leads to aqua colored waters.

There is also a great restaurant right on-site if you're interested; many find it the perfect, convenient solution for lunch. Puerto Rico has plenty of fantastic eateries around town, but not every meal you enjoy has to be at a fine restaurant. Many visitors would sooner enjoy lunch on the sand, than lunch at a full-service restaurant. With this in mind, you might ask your hotel if they offer to pack picnic lunches for their guests. Otherwise, street vendors and casual walk-up eateries will have take-out dishes you can bring to the beach.

Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.

You should remember that Maria's is in an area which is a bustling area, so plan accordingly.

Maria's is beautiful natural attraction, which you'll find on the West coast of Puerto Rico. It's located near Punta Higuero Lighthouse, which is close enough that guests will have the choice to walk or take a cab, and it is one of the attractions in the region.

If you're interested in mixing culture with your visit to the beach, you might want to consider visiting Maritime Museum, a lovely museum found a few hundred yards to the north, so it would be an easy side trip to take after the beach.

Maria's is near Rincón, so exploring the city is a convenient option. Rincón is the closest city and is in an area with plenty of worthwhile sites, while still remaining less developed and congested as some other places. From the shore, Rincón is not far away, about two miles (three and a half kilometers).

One of the best ways to round off a laid-back trek to the beach is to visit a nearby restaurant, where you'll be able to try foods you've never heard of before, within a reachable distance. You'll have the option of walking or taking a cab as it's not far off the beach at all.

There are plenty of beautiful beach locations to choose from in Puerto Rico, so if Maria's doesn't sound like your type of scene, you have options.
