If Rincon is the surfing capital of Puerto Rico, than Maria's is the surfing capital of Rincon. During high season, the waves at Maria soar higher and crash harder than anywhere else on the island. Keep in mind that swimming isn't suggested here, but it is a great locale to watch local surfers, beach comb, and sun bathe.

Located on the western side of the island of Puerto Rico, You might want to drop by even if you aren't staying particularly close by. Vacationers who want their beach to have a little bit of everything——a hint of seclusion, with a somewhat social scene—— may find that Maria's is just the right spot. It's slightly off the beaten path, but it's not quiet or boring either.

How to Access The Beach
Maria's Beach is located at the junction of Route 413 and Road 4413. Travel past Lighthouse Park were you will find parking next to Calypso Cafe, and you can follow whale-shaped signs to the shore.

Amenities and Ambiance

Maria's Beach is a small, rocky stretch beach lined with thick trees and brush. The sand is tan colored, and leads to aqua colored waters.

You'll also discover that there is a restaurant on the shore worth trying. Every destination has its own culinary style, and Puerto Rico is no different. One of the best places to try local specialties is right next to the coast. So, you may wish to consider getting pre-packed lunches from your hotel if they offer them. Otherwise, there are plenty of walk-up vendors that offer hot, on-the-go food.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, which is something to consider if you plan to spend a full day in the sun.

Since Maria's is of course located in a relatively urbanized region, you'll want to plan accordingly.
