With waves that can reach up to 25 feet during the winter months, Tres Palmas Beach is known as one of the best snorkeling beaches in the Caribbean. During late spring and through the summer, however, the rough waves die down and visitors find it a great spot for swimming.
Located along the northwestern outskirts of Rincón, Tres Palmas Beach is on the West coast of Puerto Rico. You should think about stopping by even if you aren't staying nearby.
Thanks to the rough surf that the shores are battered by during at least half of the year, Tres Palmas Beach has a rugged looking coastline, but the view remains a beautiful one. The sand right along the shore can be green at times from algae, but further back it is tan, almost dark orange in hue. The waters themselves are usually a deeper blue, but come around mid-April they are so clear, and often flat enough for snorkeling.
Unfortunately, you won't find any public restrooms along this coastline, which is something to consider if you're bringing the kids, or plan to spend all day outside.
Since Tres Palmas Beach is of course found within an area that sees many visitors, many try to show up early.
