Flying to Rio San Juan

Fly to Samana then drive to Rio San Juan

Whether the prospect of a kayaking trip down the river excites you, or you're simply looking for a quiet place to getaway, Rio San Juan is a unique destination that is becoming more and more well-known among tourists.  Getting to this destination requires a few steps, starting first with a flight to the nearby town of Samana.

Samaná El Catey International Airport

At one time, it would take about three hours to get from the nearest airport to Rio San Juan, but when the Samana El Catey International Airport (AZS) was built in the El Catey Village, that time was cut down by more than half.  The airport is a small one, but it does the trick, welcoming Boeing 747 air crafts on its 9,843 foot long asphalt runway.  Direct flights are available from New York City, Toronto, and Germany to name a few international locations, but the majority of travelers find it easier and less expensive to fly to the Las Américas International Airport in Santo Domingo then hire a domestic carrier to get them the rest of the way.
