A smaller beach, Playa Rio San Juan is mainly used by the locals and the nearby resort. However, the quaint beach is a nice way to spend some time if visiting the town of Rio San Juan.

Located along the northwestern outskirts of Rio San Juan, this beach is on the North coast of Hispaniola. You might want to drop by regardless of whether you are staying very close.

Amenities and Ambiance

Just like most of the island's beaches, Playa Rio San Juan is backed by a wall of trees that block the city from the beach. And while the beach may not be unique, it is still a tropical beach with soft sand, calm water, and a tropical breeze. It is, however, easily accessible and less active than some other in-town beaches.

Unfortunately, restrooms will not be available here, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business. Fortunately, beach chairs will be available for guests looking for a peaceful spot to relax in. The water in the area is clear enough for snorkeling, so bring along some equipment if you are looking to do some underwater exploration.

This beach is in the Rio San Juan area, so you can explore the city as part of your day at the beach. Not far away you'll find Rio San Juan, a city which is a region with interesting things to do, yet is never overly congested. From the shore, Rio San Juan is just up the road, about three quarters of a mile (a kilometer).

Whether or not you encounter many other people will be influenced by everything from the time of day to the capacity of nearby hotels. The beach is not located close to many large hotels, but it's sometimes enjoyed by guests staying at smaller lodgings in the area.

If you visit the beach around lunchtime this beach has you covered, so there's no need to go too far from the sea. One of the nearest places to eat is Cafe de Paris. The restaurant has both French and Italian cuisines. They're also renowned for their seafood.
