Serving as a major main ferry hub for the Virgin Islands, Road Town offers visitors a variety of routes that will take them wherever they want to be.

Riding the Ferries

A more direct route for tourists staying in Road Town is to fly into the Cyril E King Airport on St. Thomas and then hop on a ferry. Tortola's main ferry dock is located in Road Town, so a 50 minute scenic ferry ride with either Road Town Fast Ferry, Smith's Ferry, and Speedy's Ferry Service from Charlotte Amalie will take you right to the town in which you are vacationing, saving you not only money on air fare, but on cab fare as well. A one way ticket from Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas to Road Town will cost around $35(USD) for an adult.

If you plan to take a ferry over to Road Town to Charlotte Amalie, be sure to carry $6 to $7(USD) per person for cab fare from the airport to the ferry docks. Also, it is wise to book your flight into St. Thomas for as early in the day as you can. This will help you to avoid missing your ferry due to a delay or simply arriving too late in the day to make it to the dock on time. If you miss the last ferry of the day, you'll be forced to stay an extra night on St. Thomas, which means spending extra money on a hotel.

Native Son Ferry BVI offers daily departure times at 9:30 a.m. to Charlotte Amalie or 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. to Red Hook. One way tickets are $40 for adults and $30 for children. Round trip tickets cost $15 more.
