Traveling to Rock Sound by Airplane

Rock Sound Airport mainly sees domestic air travel

The largest settlement on Eleuthera, Rock Sound is a desirable destination for anyone who wants to get away from busy city life, but still wants modern amenities and shopping to be an option for them. One of the biggest perks of visiting here is that it is home to its very own airport, which amplifies the ease of travel to this destination.

There are three airports on Eleuthera, one of which is located directly in Rock Sound. The Rock Sound International Airport (RSD) is the only internationally classified airport on the island, though it probably welcomes the least amount of air traffic of all the airports on the island. Most of the flights that touch down here are with domestic carrier Bahamasair which travels to the island from the Lynden Pindling International Airport on New Providence Island. Rock Sound International Airport has a small building with customs inside, and an asphalt runway measuring 7,215 feet long.

The other airports on the island are the North Eleuthera Airport, which is about an hour and a half away from Rock Sound, and the Governor's Harbour Airport which is about 45 minutes away. Both airports welcome domestic flights, and the airport in Governors Harbour is an option for tourists who prefer to fly directly to Eleuthera with an internationally known commercial airline like United. Regardless of which airport you choose for your flight to the island, if you are flying internationally, your first stop will be in Florida or on New Providence Island.

If you'll be flying from the United States this table may be useful. Not all of the flight combinations you will be shown on some of the booking engines make a lot of sense so it helps to see which airlines actually fly direct to this location.
