Northside Beach

While not exactly on the northern portion of the island, Northside Beach does not dissapoint those looking for an easily accesible beach that also offers an escape from the crowds. Located centrally on the island, it is an option for anyone searching for the beach that calls to them.

Located on the island of Eleuthera, Northside Beach is on the South-Southeast edge of the island, You should consider stopping by regardless of whether you're staying nearby. This beach is not just a tropical beauty, it also has a private beach feel——a unique quailty in a touristy place like the Bahamas. While Northside Beach might be a little harder to reach, it permits unparalleled relaxation opportunities.

How to Access The Beach
You will likely need a car if you are looking to go to Northside Beach. With direct road access and a dedicated parking area, a car is probably the best option.

Amenities and Ambiance

The beach is lined with crystal clear water that lets swimmer see the sandy bottom easily. Landside, the beach is free of heavy development, though you will be able to see a few buildings if you look for them.

There is also a restaurant right on the water, so if you don't want to leave Northside Beach at all, it's worth a try. The Bahamas has plenty of fantastic eateries around town, but don't think that tables, chairs, and waiters are prerequisites for a great meal. Many vacationers would sooner enjoy lunch on the sand, than lunch at a full-service restaurant. Ask your hotel about picnic lunches, as some hotels offer to pack snacks for their guests' day trips. Or, you could find just what you need from cafes and street vendors en route to the beach.

Please note that public restrooms are not available, though you may be able to use the facilities at a nearby business. Happily, the off-shore waters are clear enough for snorkeling, so bring along some gear if you're wanting to check out the underwater sites.

Northside Beach provides a calm and serene environment, due to the fact that the surrounding region contains little build-up and is free of urbanization.

What's Nearby


The beach is wonderful, but the surrounding area has a lot to offer, too. Look for it on the South-Southeast coast of Eleuthera. You can stay at the nearby Northside Inn, which is just a short distance away. Visitors have the option to walk or to take a cab to this property, perhaps the closest hotel accessible from Northside Beach, though you may not find too many other nearby places of interest.

Cities and Towns

Rock Sound is nearby and is a neat region that strikes a balance between island tranquility and urbanization. From the shore, Rock Sound is a quick trip away, roughly a mile and a half (two kilometers).


The popularity of this spot on any given day can vary, it depends on several things: the season, the weather, even how many hotel rooms have been booked nearby. The area is not home to many major hotels, but it's often visited by guests staying at some of the area's smaller options.


Though there aren't many widely-known restaurants nearby, you'll probably still spot a few places to try, particularly if you're willing to venture a little out of the way. One of the closest places to eat is Northside Inn Restaurant, which is only a short distance away.
