Island style breakfasts and lunches are easy to come by at Cocorico Cafe, which has been pleasing the palates of locals and visitors since 1996.


Caribbean dishes with a focus on its French influences is what Cocorico Cafe specializes in, and the use of fresh and organic products is their passion. Their top selling menu items are coconut curry chicken lunch, Cocorico style jerk chicken, beef stew made in the traditional one pot style. You can also order omelets, savory crepes, sandwiches, and salads -- the Cocorico Caesar Salad is so large it is a meal all on its own.

Cocorico Cafe is a café that offers Creole and French cuisines, as well as crepes. The setting here, as far as the style and level of formality, is very casual. They are open for business during breakfast, lunch, and dinner, so your family can sample their cuisine at almost any meal.


Island-style decor makes Cocorico Cafe pop, and the computers and free WiFi allow guest to stay connected. Inside, there are five tables with enough seating for up to 23 guests, and the walls are lined with pieces of art by local artists. Outside, there are seven tables, each which seat four diners. Thanks to its location on a busy street located near the cruise terminal and the ferry terminal, this is not a quiet, intimate restaurant, instead it is always lively and a great place to stop in for a quick bite to eat.

You can merge restaurant visit with excellent local sightseeing possibilities by heading to one of the many area attractions nearby, like Barracoon Building.

Something else to try besides the food the area near this restaurant is Botanical Beach, a nearby beach, where you might nod off after a good meal or a long day.

But then again, if you want something a little different, this part of Dominica provides a large selection of dining establishments, which offer everything from the familiar to the exotic. For instance, you could also consider some other types of food at a close by spot in town, like Pumpkins, which is a short distance away north-northeast.

Hours and Other Info

Cocorico Cafe is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. On Saturdays they close two hours early, at 2:00 p.m. The cafe is open on Sundays only if there is a cruise boat docked. Recently, they began opening for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m.
