Beaches in Runaway Bay

Although Runaway Bay is considered to be a resort area, it is much less tourist-y than some of the larger towns on the island.  The beaches are for sure the biggest reason to visit, though many are backed by resorts which claim them as private property and off-limits to anyone not paying for a room or a day pass.  There are, however, two public beaches which have changing facilities that bookend the string of resort beaches to the east and the west.

Beach Choices In The Area

You'll discover an abundance of beaches to consider visiting in and around the area. Snorkeling is available at some of the beaches, for visitors who enjoy this relaxing pastime. To get additional information about any specific beach just click on the names of the ones you're interested in.

If you love to snorkel, a beach where that's an option is Puero Seco Beach. Discover Bay, which is where Christopher Columbus was said to have first landed in Jamaica, is the location of Puero Seco Beach. This beach is a favorite amongst families, because there is so much to do here.

A second option to consider is Little Laughlands Bay. Connected to A4 is a long dirt road through some of Jamaica's flat lands that lead to Little Laughlands Bay. Just before the beach is a patch of sand for parking.

Priory Beach: A nice beach with easy public access and a very friendly vibe on Jamaica's northern coast.
