Named after Sir George Somers, who visited the Virginia Colony around 1609 and found the colonist starving. Vowing to return with supplies, his ship wrecked off the coast of Bermuda and he died. The gardens are built in his and his crew's honor.
The garden offers simple tastes, playing closer to a simple memorial than a grand garden. It has become a popular place to take a walk, or just to simply enjoy the peace and quiet that hangs over the gardens.
Somer's Gardens is situated in the heart of St. George.
And, one of the most delightful possibilities while spending a few hours exploring the area could be chowing down on a meal at a restaurant within traveling distance of Somer's Gardens.
