As the story goes, Sir George Somers asked that when he die, his heart be buried on Bermuda where it belongs. His nephew honored his request when he died in 1609 by burying his heart on the grounds that are now known as Somers Garden.
Sommers Garden can be found near the heart of St. George.
If you develop an appetite during your visit to the gardens, don't worry -- you're going to find a plentiful supply of dining possibilities in this general area. White Horse Pub, which offers Caribbean fare, is also the most convenient dining option from the botanical gardens. White Horse Pub is a small distance away, but distant enough that you may want to make plans for using some type of transportation to visit there. Also within reach, you and your companions will encounter options like Temptations and Tavern by the Sea where you and your party will be able to eat some International cuisine and experience the Bermuda culture.
Visitors who have interest in visiting two botanical gardens, make the trip to Somer's Gardens, situated less than a hundred yards to the west of Sommers Garden.
